Rockies’ Shelton commits to ACHA’s Jimmies

Kaelan Shelton of the Columbia Valley Rockies has committed to play for the University of Jamestown Jimmies in the American Collegiate Hockey Association starting in the 2024-25 season.

Shelton is the third KIJHL player this season to commit to the University of Jamestown, following Kaleb Percival and Ray Warrack. Shelton has 12 goals, 13 assists for 25 points in 32 games. He’s excited and honoured to get this opportunity, which has been a goal since arriving  in Columbia Valley.

“Columbia Valley has been a huge part of my life these past three years. It has helped me grow as a person and a member in a community,” said Shelton. “The coaches I’ve had here have pushed me to work hard everyday to gain these opportunities.”

The Jimmies are getting a player who has grown his leadership abilities on and off the ice and more.

“I have been focused on trying to increase my hockey IQ and making quicker decisions,” he said.

“I’m very excited to see him excel in the next phase of his life and hockey career,” said Rockies Head Coach-GM Taylor Sincennes. “It has been enjoyable to watch him turn into a very elite player and leader in this league.”
