KIJHL Power Rankings – Week 9 (Nov. 19)

 

The Kootenay International Junior Hockey League completed its ninth week of action for the 2023-24 regular season. The KIJHL Power Rankings highlights the top-five teams based on their performance over the past 10 games, including winning percentage.

 

Revelstoke Grizzlies
Last Week: 2
Record: 12-4-0

The Grizzlies won their lone game last week, earning a 5-0 victory over the Osoyoos Coyotes. The Grizzlies went 2-for-6 on their power-play, while their penalty-kill was perfect at 6-for-6. For the season, their power-play is at 19.3 per cent, while their PK is 96.1 per cent, the KIJHL’s best.

 

Fernie Ghostriders
Last Week: Not ranked
Record: 13-5-0

The Ghostriders won all three of their games last weekend, earning a pair of 5-2 victories against Golden, and then a 6-1 win against Summerland. Their power-play went 4-for-14, while the penalty-kill was 10-for-11. Fernie’s power-play for the season is at 23.8 per cent – fourth best, while the PK is 89.7 per cent – third best.

 

Grand Forks Border Bruins
Last Week: 5
Record: 12-5-1-2

The Border Bruins won three games last week, starting with an 8-6 victory over Nelson, then defeated North Okanagan 3-2 and Spokane 4-3. Their power-play went 4-for-12, while their penalty-kill was 10-for-12. For the season, the Border Bruins have the third best PP at 24.2 per cent, while their PK is at 79.2 per cent.

 

Princeton Posse
Last Week: 3
Record: 14-3-0

The Posse won both their games last week, earning a 2-1 win against Beaver Valley, then defeated Kelowna 4-1. Their power-play went 1-for-10, while the penalty-kill was 11-for-13. The Posse have the league’s sixth best PP at 20.4 per cent, while their PK is also sixth at 86.4 per cent.

 

Columbia Valley Rockies
Last Week: Not ranked
Record: 14-4-2

The Rockies defeated the 100 Mile House Wranglers 5-2 on the road, then bowed to Kamloops 2-1 in overtime. They went 2-for-10 on their power-play, and 9-for-11 on their penalty-kill. The Rockies PP is at 14.5 per cent for the season, while their PK is seventh best at 85.9 per cent.
