KIJHL Power Rankings – Week 7 (Nov. 5)

 

The Kootenay International Junior Hockey League completed its seventh week of action for the 2023-24 regular season. The KIJHL Power Rankings highlights the top-five teams based on winning percentage and their performance over the past 10 games.

 

Sicamous Eagles
Last Week: 1
Record: 13-2-0

The Eagles begin November with three straight wins – 5-4 over Spokane, 7-3 over Grand Forks and 6-0 against Summerland. Their power-play went 6-for-19, while their penalty-kill went 11/12. Their power-play is at 22.3 per cent, and the PK is at 89.5 per cent for the season.

 

Beaver Valley Nitehawks
Last Week: 2
Record: 11-2-0

The Nitehawks won their lone weekend game, defeating Spokane 4-0. They went 0-for-4 on the power-play, and their penalty-kill was 5-for-5. The Nitehawks have the best power-play in the league at 25 per cent, and their PK is at 88.5 per cent.

 

Revelstoke Grizzlies
Last Week: Not ranked
Record: 10-3-0

The Grizzlies did the same as the Eagles, starting November with three straight wins, starting with a 7-0 win over Chase, 7-1 win against 100 Mile House and earning a 6-0 win in Kamloops on Sunday. Their power-play went 5-for-14, while the penalty-kill was 16-for-17. The Grizzlies PP executes at 18.6 per cent, while the PK is the best in the league at 95.1 per cent. They’ve allowed three goals on 61 opportunities.

 

Princeton Posse
Last Week: 3
Record: 11-3-0

The Posse won both their games on the weekend, earning a 3-1 win against 100 Mile House and a 5-2 victory against Chase. Their power-play went 3-for-17, while the PK didn’t surrender a goal – 9-for-9. Princeton has the fifth best PP at 21.6 per cent, and their PK is seventh at 85.9 per cent.

 

Columbia Valley Rockies
Last Week: 4
Record: 11-4-1

The Rockies split their games on the weekend, earning a 2-1 win against Nelson, then losing 4-0 to Castlegar. Their power-play went 1-for-7, while the penalty-kill was perfect at 7-for-7. The Rockies PP is at 12.9 per cent, while their PK is eighth best at 85.7 per cent.
