KIJHL Power Rankings Week 9 – (Nov. 20)

 

The Kootenay International Junior Hockey League completed its ninth week of regular season action for the 2022-23 season. The KIJHL Power Rankings highlights the top-five teams based on winning percentage, with various tie-breakers to help decide after.

Revelstoke Grizzlies

Last Week: 1

Record: 14:1-2-3

The Grizzlies picked up victories in both their games last weekend, defeating the Beaver Valley Nitehawks, 4-0. Former Nitehawks goalie Owen Albers made 14 saves for his third shutout. They earned a 3-1 victory against the Sicamous Eagles. Carter Bettenson led with three points, including two goals.

Nelson Leafs

Last Week: 5

Record: 13-3-2-1

The Leafs won all three of their games last week, picking up victories against the Kimberley Dynamiters, 3-2;  the Fernie Ghostriders, 5-3; and the Creston Valley Thunder Cats, 10-5. Joe Davidson led the Leafs with five goals and four assists, including a hat-trick against Fernie, while Bennett Anklewhich had two goals and seven points.

Columbia Valley Rockies

Last Week: 4

Record: 14-4-0-2

The Rockies earned victories in both their games last weekend, defeating the Castlegar Rebels 5-1 and shutting out the Grand Forks Border Bruins 7-0. Keenan Ingram led the Rockies with five goals and seven points, including two game-winners. Goalie Nate Glenn, acquired from Princeton, won both games stopping 50 of 51 shots.

Princeton Posse

Last Week: 2

Record: 13-4-0-2

The Posse lost both their games last weekend, losing at home 3-2 to the Kelowna Chiefs and 4-3 in a shootout to the Golden Rockets. Dayton Nelson, acquired from Fernie, scored a hat-trick in his debut against Golden. Tanner Funk also had three points in two games.

Kimberley Dynamiters

Last Week:3

Record: 13-5-1-1

The Dynamiters split their games last weekend, defeating the Creston Valley Thunder Cats 1-0 and losing to the Nelson Leafs 3-2. Jayden Kostiuk led with two points, while Matt Fleet made 15 saves against the Thunder Cats.
