KIJHL Power Rankings: Week 17

 

The Kootenay International Junior Hockey League finished its 17th week. The KIJHL Power Rankings highlights the top-five teams based on winning percentage and here is how they rank.

Osoyoos Coyotes: (GP: 37 W: 29 L: 2 OTL: 2 SOL: 4) The Coyotes won their lone game during the week, 3-1 against the Summerland Steam. Kaleb Kremp scored his 26th goal of the season that was credited as the winner. The Coyotes continue their pursuit of the KIJHL regular season championship.

Revelstoke Grizzlies: (GP: 37 W: 28 L: 7 OTL: 1 SOL: 1) The Grizzlies kept their second spot as they posted back-to-back shutouts in wins over the Kamloops Storm and North Okanagan Knights. Brandon Weare turned aside 40 shots for his sixth shutout of the season, while Jozef Kuchaslo made 22 saves for his fourth shutout.

Columbia Valley Rockies: (GP: 39 W: 28 L: 8 OTL: 2 SOL: 1) The Rockies maintain their third spot thanks to three straight wins, one against Creston Valley and two against the Golden Rockets. Dylan Malarchuk, named the Top Defenceman in the KIJHL 3 Stars of the Week, had seven points, while teammates Colby Phillips and Kayde Kinaschuk each had six points. Kinaschuk netted a hat-trick in the first game against Golden.

Nelson Leafs: (GP: 38 W: 28 L: 9 OTL: 0 SOL: 1) The Leafs climb another spot to fourth with three straight wins during the week, and 11 in a row. “It’s big enough it doesn’t matter,” quipped assistant coach Adam DiBella to the Nelson Star. Defenceman Kingsley Brockett led the team with six points.

Kimberley Dynamiters: (GP: 38 W: 27 L: 9 OTL: 0 SOL: 2) The Dynamiters earned wins over Creston Valley and Grand Forks to get them back in the top-five. Cash Regan led the team with five points and tied Christian Mealey with two goals. The Dynamiters have won three of their last five and eight of their last 10.
