The Kootenay International Junior Hockey League finished its 16th week. The KIJHL Power Rankings highlights the top-five teams based on winning percentage and here is how they rank.
Osoyoos Coyotes: (GP: 36 W: 28 L: 2 OTL: 2 SOL: 4) The Coyotes keep their spot at the top of the KIJHL with two wins (9-2 vs. North Okanagan and 5-1 against Princeton) and a shootout loss to Kamloops. The Coyotes are 19 goals from hitting the 200-goal mark on the season, which they could accomplish in four games, based on their 5.03 goals per game average.
Revelstoke Grizzlies: (GP: 35 W: 26 L: 7 OTL: 1 SOL: 1) The Grizzlies remain in second spot after winning two of three games. They lost 5-4 in a shootout to Chase, then defeated Sicamous 4-1 and bounced back against Chase with a 4-3 shootout win. Of the teams in the top-five based on winning percentage, the Grizzlies have surrendered the fewest goals at 75.
Columbia Valley Rockies: (GP: 36 W: 25 L: 8 OTL: 2 SOL: 1) The Rockies jumped two spots to third thanks to three straight wins over Golden, 2-1, and against Fernie 4-1 and 5-3. Kayde Kinaschuk, Max Kathol and Drew Tkachuk led the team with two goals each in three games.
Kamloops Storm: (GP: 36 W: 25 L: 8 OTL: 2 SOL:1) The Storm stayed in the fourth spot with a 5-0 win over 100 Mile House and a shoot out victory over Osoyoos. The Storm played both their goals over the weekend with Cody Creasy earning his third shutout of the season, turning aside 18 shots in the win against the Wranglers, while Colton Phillips-Watts made 32 saves against Osoyoos.
Nelson Leafs: (GP: 35 W: 25 L: 9 OTL: 0 SOL: 1) The Leafs clawed their way into the top-five with the help of three straight wins, including victories over Kimberley and Grand Forks on Sunday, which pushed the Leafs past the Kimberley Dynamiters by .007. Liam Noble, named the Top Forward for the KIJHL 3 Stars of the Week, led the Leafs with seven points in three games, and was tied with Tyler Pisiak with three goals.
