Hilworth, Masters & Degenstein selected for KIJHL 3 Stars

Nash Hilworth (100 Mile House Wranglers), Lukas Masters (Columbia Valley Rockies) and Devin Degenstein (Revelstoke Grizzlies) have been selected as the Kootenay International Junior Hockey League 3 Stars of the Week for the period ending Jan.19/25.

Hilworth – Top Forward – The Jasper, Alta., native scored five goals and an assist in two games for the Wranglers. In an 8-3 loss to the Columbia Valley Rockies, Hilworth was a force on special teams, scoring short-handed and on the power-play. In an 8-4 win over the Golden Rockets, Hilworth netted a natural hat-trick, and once again was a threat short-handed scoring twice, while adding an assist. In 24 games, Hilworth has 15 goals and 23 points.

Masters – Top Defenceman – The Edmonton native scored four goals in two games for the Rockies and was a plus six, while averaging 18:23 of ice time. Masters scored the final goal for the Rockies in a 7-4 win over the Fernie Ghostriders, then he netted a hat-trick in their 8-3 win over the Wranglers. The 18-year-old rookie blueliner has six goals and 14 points in 30 games. 

Degenstein – Top Goalie – The Camrose, Alta., native had a 29-save shutout for the Grizzlies in a 3-0 win over the Merritt Centennials. It’s the second shutout for the 6-0, 182-pound rookie goalie, who faced 13 shots in the second period. In 15 games with the Nelson Leafs and Grizzlies, Degenstein is 12-0 with one shootout loss, and has a 2.25 goals against average with a .929 save percentage in 853 minutes played. With the Grizzlies, Degenstein is 9-0 with a stellar 1.69 GAA and a .943 SP.
