Head Coach
Wade Dubielewicz
(250) 341-5801 Cell
(250) 342-0582 Office
cvrockies.coach@gmail.com

Wade joined the Rockies organization in 2012 as Head Coach. Prior to coaching, he built an impressive career as a goal tender in the NHL with the New York Islanders, Columbus Blue Jackets and Minnesota Wild. He is most famous for his 'poke check that turned a fan base on its head' when he lead the New York Islanders into the playoffs. Having also played in the AHL, Wade broke many league records which he still holds today.

The Rockies are pleased and privileged to have Wade as part of our organization. As a former Columbia Valley Rockies alumni, he knows the importance the organization has on the development of young players on and off the ice.

"As a young person, perhaps leaving home for the first time, it can be a challenge. My objective as Coach, is to pass on my hockey knowledge and skills to help players develop to their full hockey potential and help them understand what it takes to achieve at the next level.  Part of our program objective is to help players develop into successful young adults. We achieve this by emphasizing communitiy involvement and by helping our players develop an understanding of the role they play in creating good relations with both adults & youth in the community. By introducing them into the community through team functions, they develop self confidence and are more prepared for future endeavors." Wade

Assistant Coach
Briar McNaney

Rockies Alumni, Briar, played for the Rockies both early and late in his junior career. A natural leader on the ice, he displays a passion and commitment to the game that easily matches those who have played at much higher levels.

On completing his Junior career, Briar, immediately became involved in coaching Midget Hockey in his home town of Merritt, and very quickly became re-involved with the Rockies as a scout, and Bench Coach during camps. In 2017 Briar returned on a more full time basis, having gained several years of vital coaching experience at Midget level, and nurturing several solid prospects towards junior. Briar is a most welcome addition to our bench, and practices, and engages very well with the team. He also brings the skills of a qualified bench trainer and safety person to the bench.

Assistant Coach
Kris Ekelund

Kris joined the Rockies as an assistant coach who has already proved himself to be a valuable asset in team building and in developing a positive atmosphere amongst the team, his fellow coaches, and in the dressing room. He is passionate and organized about everything he does, and takes time to help develop our players both on, and off the ice.

Kris has also helped develop our equipment management and maintenance program to a professional level of self sufficiency - This includes Kris dedicating a lot of his time to both carrying out tasks such as skate sharpening, while teaching our players how to do so.

Kris has been key to developing the off ice program training for our players; and this year will see further Core Fitness and Yoga Sessions boosting our Standard Dryland and Roll&Stretch Sessions.

Head Scout/ Director of Player Personnel
Scott Dubielewicz

This club and its continued success is extremely personal and very important to Scott Dubielewicz and his family. These three brothers grew up in the hockey rink, transitioning naturally from stands to players as boys. He first joined the coaching team in 1995 and was part of the staff in various rolls, including Assistant Coach, General Manager and Head Coach, through 2000.  Over the course of those five seasons, the club finished "First Overall" twice, first in the Eddie Mountain Division three times and went to the league finals once.  It was a prosperous and memorable time for the Columbia Valley Rockies. Scott is a longtime resident of Invermere. After school, he returned home to start his own company; he now owns and operates a successful plumbing contractor business, and was ready to volunteer some of his time to the young hockey players in and around our community.

His current duties with the club include off-ice systems coaching, practice planning, video breakdown, game analysis, pre-scouting, prospect scouting, recruitment, and implementing tactics and systems. Other highlights from Scott's career include coaching the KIJHL All Star Game in 2000 and continued involvement in the BC Best Ever Program. He has volunteered several times as an evaluator and twice coached a Zone team at the BC Cup. His passions for staying active in the community, playing a variety of sports regularly and working with the young hockey players, make Scott a valuable member of our coaching staff and the hockey community in general.
